Ministry Certificate

God doesn’t always call the college graduate into ministry. Sometimes, He calls after a career of welding, ranching, or waiting tables. Sometimes He calls the stay-at-home mother whose children have recently moved out. Those calls are just as valid as when He calls the graduate of a prestigious university.

B. H. Carroll does not offer undergraduate-level education, but we have created a pathway for students without a college degree to obtain practical training for ministry.

In our Ministry Certificate program, we offer general admission to students—without admission to a particular master’s program—and allow enrollment in select master’s-level courses.

Students take a Gateway Course, which helps develop proper research and writing skills, followed by seven courses from the B. H. Carroll core.

At the halfway point in progressing toward the Ministry Certificate, students who have maintained a B average (3.0 GPA) may be invited, with the recommendation of a faculty member, to pursue master’s-level study in a particular master’s degree program. Students who do not maintain a B average and are not interested in pursuing further study will be awarded the Ministry Certificate.

The Ministry Certificate is a 16-unit program of study which initiates the process of theological education for those without an undergraduate degree, but who are leading churches and community ministries. In the program, you will be exposed to a Gateway Course (2 units) followed by seven courses (14 units) from the B. H. Carroll core.

Carroll Theological Seminary is not only a superb theological education (and it is that)—but it is also an immersion into Christian ministry. Jesus said, “As you go, become disciple-makers” (Matt. 28: 19-20). Carroll is about developing the best “disciple-makers” possible.
