Master of Arts in Counseling Graduate

When God began leading me to pursue a degree in counseling, I knew that I wanted to obtain state licensure as well as learn what it means to be a Christian counselor. Therefore, choosing a counseling program grounded in theology was critical to me. The theology classes challenged me to be able to articulate my spiritual beliefs, to pursue holiness and discipline in my spiritual life, and to always have a teachable spirit in faith and practice. At the same time, the counseling classes encouraged me to integrate my faith into the counseling setting and to be sensitive to the work of the Holy Spirit in people’s lives regardless of their spiritual aptitude.

I am grateful that God in His sovereignty led me to Carroll Institute. I have been blessed by each faculty member and for the time they have poured into my life.

Looking back on my experience at B.H. Carroll Theological Institute, I am so grateful for all of the knowledge I gained and the direction I received. As I began the process of finding a place to pursue my call to counseling, I knew that I needed a program that would help me to develop my skills as a professional counselor all while encouraging me in my faith. Carroll has given me just that. Each class helped me to see that counseling, whether in the church, a mental health hospital, or in a counseling center, truly must be Christ-centered and Spirit-led. It would hard to find a group of men and women that are more passionate about theological education and helping each student to find their place to serve within the Body of Christ. Carroll Institute not only made me a better counselor, but gave me the tools and encouragement to become a better father, husband, and follower of Jesus.
