Having served as a counseling professor for more than 25 years, Dr. Scott Floyd is a Licensed Counselor (Texas LPC-S) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Dr. Floyd has degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University (BA/Honors in Psychology), and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MA in Marriage and Family Counseling and PhD in Psychology/Counseling). Dr. Floyd is an author (Crisis Counseling: A Guide for Pastors and Professionals) and seminar speaker. He specializes in trauma counseling and in working with couples and families. He currently directs the Counseling Ministry at Travis Avenue Baptist Church.

Advanced Standing

Carroll Institute offers an Advanced Standing degree option for the Master of Divinity, the Master of Arts in Christian Education, the Master of Arts in Worship, and the Master of Arts in Counseling. These programs are available to qualified students who have significant preparation in biblical, theological, or applied Christian studies at the bachelor’s level.

The student may receive:

  • Up to 24 credit units toward the Master of Divinity
  • Up to 20 credit units toward the Master of Arts in Christian Education
  • Up to 16 credit units toward the Master of Arts in Worship
  • Up to 14 credit units toward the Master of Arts in Counseling Licensure or Ministry Tracks

Students interested in pursuing the Advanced Standing degree option must submit a form, documentation, and a $100 administrative processing fee for review of documentation. A minimum grade of B (3.0) or better in their undergraduate courses presented is required to satisfy requirements for Advanced Standing. Upon approval, the Director of Master’s Degree Programs will send the student and the Registrar a customized degree plan.
